HOLLA officially launched in Khartoum, Sudan August 08, 2015

The Horn of Africa Leadership and Learning for Action HOLLA had its official launching workshop on Saturday August 08, 2015.

The European Union funded project was officially launched at Grand Holiday Villa and was attended by Mr. Umberto Ambrosi, Representative of the European Union, representative from Minister of Youth -Sudan as well as from civil society organizations. The workshop commenced with an opening speech by Mr. Tilan, the acting director for British Council, Sudan. In his speech Tilan gave a brief description of the project and discussed what has been achieved so far and what lies ahead. Following the launching workshop the youth leaders from Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan gathered in Khartoum for a five day workshop to discuss the course of the program and to map out the activities for the Arts for Development event that is to take place in the first week of December in Khartoum. The youth leaders engaged in participatory training were they show cased what the have done so far in their perspective countries and also pushed for more involvement in the implementation of the program. The workshop ended on August 13 by identifying major milestones, drafting timeframe and establishing taskforces established to carry on the necessary activities for the upcoming event.

For Initiative Africa vulnerable populations are defined as those groups of people who are typically excluded, disadvantaged or marginalized based on their economic, environmental, social, or cultural characteristics, specifically, children, youth and women.
